Toyota 86, Subaru BRZ: Second-generation confirmed

Very affordable rear-wheel drive coupes will be renewed, but it is not clear when they will seem, according to the newest instalment in the inconsistent story about their second generation.

A senior executive at Toyota has confirmed a subsequent-generation version of the Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ will be created.

Matt Harrison, head of marketing and advertising for Toyota Europe, has told Autocar the business is intending to create a second-generation Toyota 86.

He stated it was secure to assume the subsequent-generation sports coupe will be produced in conjunction with Subaru, and use the smaller sized automaker’s flat-4 engine.

Not extended right after the Supra ultimately produced its production debut, reports started surfacing about the demise of the 86 and BRZ twins.

Harrison stated the Supra is not a replacement for the 86, noting “they are for diverse audiences and are diverse goods”.

International volumes for the 86 and BRZ twins are compact, but according to Harrison that is not seriously the point, as the 86 is all about “adding excitement to the brand and emotional appeal”.

Rumours indicate the subsequent-generation 86 and BRZ could debut as early as 2021.
